The Opening of Joinville Jazz Festival

    ...after a one-hour delay on schedule, the group of the bass player Arnou de Melo finally opened the festival. It couldn´t be better: the first performance was “Grandes Encontros”, that he composed inspired by a tradicional brazilian music festival of his home town. More focused in melody then in virtuosity, his compositions ruled the set, alternating very rhythmic (“Samba Novo”) and inner (“Fantasia”) moments. The best moment, however, came when the quartet performed the classic “All the Things You Are”, jazz standard by Jerome Kern.
