Arnou De Melo
Arnou de Melo, musician, bass player, composer and musical producer. Graduated from BIT, Bass Institute of Technology, Musicians Institute - Los Angeles, CA., in 1990, being awarded the “Outstanding Student of the Year”.
Musician for more than 40 years, Arnou began his professional career when he was 17 years old, playing in groups in the south of Brazil. His musical influences came from the familiar environment where he used to listen to the best of the brazilian music, the works of the great classical composers and the jazz of the great american musicians.
Arnou has in his background, teachers as Oscar N. Kleis (Neni), Jeff Berlin, Bob Magnusson, Gary Willis, Steve Bailey, Carl Shroeder and Arismar do Espirito Santo. Having performed in Brazil and overseas, already played with great musicians as Luiz Meira, Claudio Infante, Vinicius Dorin, Arismar do Espirito Santo, Cuca Teixeira, Jorginho do Trompete, Toninho Horta, Lupa Santiago, Victor Alcantara, Alessandro Kramer, Robertinho Silva, Teo Lima and other great names from Brazilian music.
Arnou dedicates his life to the production and propagation of the instrumental music. Having performed the overture of concerts from Hermeto Paschoal in the Joinville Jazz Festival, Alegre Correa and Trio 202 in the Itajai Festival of Music, he was the pedagogycal coordinator and musical headmaster of the Itajai Festival of Music from 2005 to 2008 and principal of the Popular Music Conservatory of Itajaí 2007/08. Teacher at the Univali - Universidade do Vale do Itajai (University of the Valley of Itajai - 2008 thru 2010), he is the owner of a recording studio named Porta Voz Estudios in Itajai (SC), where he produces and records CD´s by local artists. He is a well-known bass player mainly in the southern states for he often performs in gigs playing instrumental Brazilian Popular Music and jazz.
Arnou released recently his solo CD "Fantasia" with his originals , and lives, nowadays, in Itajai (SC) Brazil from where he produces his solo career.
